CHISU has reinforced malaria health information system governance in Madagascar by conducting quarterly surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation (SME) technical working group (TWG) meetings that aim to monitor activity implementation and ensure that interventions align with the objectives of the new malaria national strategic plan. In December 2023, the TWG meeting focused on SME activities. Participants followed up on previous recommendations related to use of the District Health Information System 2 (DHIS2) platform and reviewed the TWG terms of reference. Participants also updated and validated DHIS2’s malaria data, which was integrated into the national DHIS2 platform. DHIS2 was designed to collect and manage data from home-based management of malaria (PECADOM), care for children over 14 years old, and malaria seasonal chemoprophylaxis. CHISU staff monitored, discussed, and addressed recommendations from technical partners working with the Ministry of Health to ensure better results in the country.
