USAID-Sponsored Opening Plenary - From Blueprints to Practice: Perspectives on Health System Digitization

The USAID-sponsored opening plenary session will be a moderated panel with four to five government representatives speaking to their countries’ health system digital transformation efforts and sharing what they need from the global community to succeed in these efforts.

Practical Applications of DEI/Gender Efforts in Digital Health

When: Monday, December 4, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.

Panelists will share practical examples they have undertaken to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within their organizations and programs. CHISU will share updates from its third year of implementation, such as gender-specific activities incorporated into their country workplans and updated the HIS Stages of Continuous Improvement (SOCI) tool to include a gender composite score.

This panel will discuss the role of African women in the digital health field, ways to strengthen and support their career development, and how to integrate policies that will create opportunities for women in digital health in Africa. This session will also introduce the African Women in Digital Health action plan.

Beyond the Blueprint: Implementing, Measuring, and Maintaining a National Health Enterprise Architecture

In this panel, you can hear from the experiences of Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Uruguay as panelists discuss how they have implemented blueprints, or diagrams of the data platforms their health information systems use, and how these systems connect to each other. The panelists will also share how they are working to measure and maintain the blueprints they are using.

Digital Supportive Supervision: A Pathway to Improving Service Delivery and Data Use

In this interactive workshop, participants will hear about Supportive Supervision (SS), which is a process of mentoring staff members to continuously improve their work performance. The facilitators will present a new guidance document that participants will apply to a case study example and then discuss how they can use the Supportive Supervision model.

Building Resilience during Emergencies: Insights on Strengthening Health Systems and Global Health Security from Studying USAID’s COVID-19 Emergency Digital Health Investments

Early findings from USAID-funded research looking into digital health investments the Agency made to support COVID-19 vaccination deployment show that investing in digital health systems before an emergency added value to the crisis response. This panel will look at lessons learned from the study and provide recommendations on how to use these insights to support improved health outcomes.

Watch Party

 

CHISU Indonesia will host a GDHF watch party in Jakarta on Wednesday, December 6 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. WIB. The watch party, which will be a part of the Health Information Systems Technical Working Group (HIS TWG) of Indonesia, will include a viewing of the interactive workshop "Lessons from East Africa on Accountable Health Data Governance in Digital Health Systems." The HIS TWG looks forward to learning from experiences of other regions on health data governance!
